Ok I see now. Wouldn't it be easier construction to just have the tray go all the way across, and instead use a reduced-height side wall? Of course this would pose a problem if the unit were installed all the way at the end of the sump.

Agreed it would be easier, but i like the idea of keeping the water flow contained within the unit.
